Engineering Highlights
Key Features
5G Redcap Performance in A Pocket-Sized Hotspot
The AceTel M06 is built on a Balong 5710 modem that implements 3GPP Release 17 5G RedCap. RedCap keeps the 5G NR core network features, including Standalone (SA) operation, while limiting the device to a 20 MHz FR1 channel and a 2RX/1TX antenna layout. The result is up to 226 Mbps downlink and 120 Mbps uplink on 5G, with 4G LTE fallback at up to 150 Mbps / 50 Mbps when 5G coverage is not available.
Both the main and diversity antennas are internal, which keeps the body clean and compact. Network mode defaults to automatic with 5G prioritized, and automatic network search and roaming are supported for travel use.
Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 with Flexible SIM Options
The AIC8800D40L Wi-Fi 6 chipset serves both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands with WPA/WPA2/WPA3-Personal security, SSID broadcast or hide, bandwidth selection and automatic or manual channel setting. Up to 10 devices can share the connection at the same time, and USB tethering is available through RNDIS.
For operators and travel-SIM programs, the M06 combines 2x Nano SIM slots with 2x eSIM profiles, so a single device can be provisioned for local and roaming plans. A 2.4-inch LCD shows signal, network mode, upload/download status, carrier logo, battery and charging state, rate, Wi-Fi status, connected user count and SMS notifications, and the unit also includes an NFC interface.
What 5G Redcap Means for Hotspot Buyers
5G RedCap is a 3GPP Release 17 device category, not a marketing label. A RedCap modem implements the 5G NR air interface, including Standalone (SA), but runs a 20 MHz FR1 channel with fewer antenna chains than a flagship 5G modem. For a personal hotspot the practical effect is straightforward: the M06 reaches 226 Mbps downlink and 120 Mbps uplink on 5G, compared with the 150 Mbps / 50 Mbps ceiling of an LTE Cat 4 hotspot, using a simpler radio design.
Because the cellular peak (226 Mbps) and the Wi-Fi 6 1x1 link rate (up to 286.8 Mbps) are in the same range, the wireless side is not the bottleneck. Real throughput depends on carrier configuration, band, signal quality and the number of connected clients, so validate on your target network. FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions about technical specifications, carrier compliance, customization, and ordering for M06.
What is 5G RedCap and why is it used in the M06?
5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) is the 3GPP Release 17 device category that trims antennas and bandwidth to 20 MHz on FR1 while keeping true 5G NR features. The M06 uses it to deliver up to 226 Mbps downlink in a compact, battery-friendly hotspot, which suits portable use better than a full-bandwidth 5G modem.
Does the M06 support both 5G and 4G networks?
Yes. The M06 supports 5G NR SA and 4G LTE. Network mode is automatic by default with 5G prioritized over 4G, and automatic network search and roaming are supported. Band coverage is 5G n1/n5/n8/n28/n41/n78 and LTE B1/B3/B5/B8/B34/B39/B40/B41.
How many SIM cards and devices can the M06 handle?
The M06 provides 2x Nano SIM slots and 2x eSIM profiles, with PIN/PUK management. The Wi-Fi hotspot supports up to 10 connected devices over 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.
Which certifications does the M06 carry?
The M06 is supported with CE, FCC, CCC, SRRC, China Network Access License (NAL) and RoHS certifications, and other approvals can be arranged as required. Carrier or country-specific approvals depend on the target band configuration, so confirm scope with our team before ordering.
Which regions do the M06 frequency bands cover?
M06 is offered in three band configurations. Standard: 5G n1/n5/n8/n28/n41/n78 and LTE B1/B3/B5/B8/B34/B39/B40/B41. EU version: 5G n1/n3/n7/n8/n20/n28/n38/n78 and LTE B1/B3/B7/B8/B20/B28/B38/B40. North America version: 5G n2/n5/n25/n41/n66/n71/n77 and LTE B2/B4/B5/B12/B13/B14/B17/B25/B26/B41/B66/B71. Regional band lists are confirmed by AceTel engineering at quotation, and certification scope follows the final band configuration.
